Famous Hawaii Quotes

"Beating the drums for Hawaii is not hard to do... the place just grows on you."
by: James MacArthur
Did You Know: Hawaii has its own time zone (Hawaiian Standard Time.) There is no daylight savings time.) The time runs two hours behind Pacific Standard Time and five hours behind Eastern Standard Time.
Hawaii's Historical Attractions
One of Hawaii's most interesting historical parks is the Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park on the big island of Hawaii. This park is 182 acres of archeological sites and reconstructions of Hawaiian sacred sites. Once the home to Hawaiian royalty and a place of refuge for people ostracized in ancient times, this park offers an excellent self-guided tour and opportunity to learn about the ancient history of Hawaii. With opportunities to photograph the area's green sea turtles as they sunbathe on the beach, this park is definitely one of Hawaii's unique treasures and is a must-see stop on any trip to Hawaii.
Another interesting historical attraction is the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor on Oahu. This site is the resting place for the USS Arizona which was sunk on December 7, 1941. With exhibits showing the horrific damage and carnage caused on that December day, this memorial offers visitors an experience that is both educational and humbling. All in all, this fascinating historical site helps visitors to gain a unique perspective on one of the darkest times in the history of the United States.
Hawaii Cultural and Natural Attractions
The Polynesian Cultural Center near the town of Laie on the island of Oahu offers visitors an intriguing glimpse into the culture of Hawaii and seven other Polynesian societies. With living history exhibits and cultural displays through the park, this park's 42 acres give visitors the opportunity to travel throughout the Pacific on one single day. As one of Hawaii's top tourist attractions, the Polynesian Cultural Center enchants visitors with a thrilling day of adventure, entertainment and educational experiences. Overall, a visit to the Polynesian Cultural Center is one of the best ways to learn about the fascinating cultures of the Pacific's native societies.
One of Hawaii's most beautiful natural attractions is the Road to Hana. This road, also referred to as the Hana Highway, is a long road stretching along the northern coast of Maui from Kahului to Hana. There are stunningly beautiful vistas along this entire stretch of highway that beckon the visitor to come and enjoy the views of the verdant tropical vegetation, cascading waterfalls, and exquisite black-sand beaches. Seeing as this road was constructed only by workers using hand tools, the Hana Highway is certainly an engineering wonder that any visitor is sure to find fascinating.
Another equally fascinating natural wonder of Hawaii is the Waimea Canyon on the island of Kauai. At more than 16 miles long and over one-half mile deep, this canyon was dubbed the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" by Mark Twain. With breathtaking beauty and steep sides, this canyon is certainly one of the most beautiful natural attractions in the entire state of Hawaii.
Looking at all of the wondrous natural and historical attractions Hawaii has to offer, visitors to this fascinating state are sure to find that it truly is paradise. Beach lovers are sure to find the state's beaches to be absolutely stunning and those who are interested in the state's culture and historical past are sure to have an enlightening experience that will last a lifetime. All in all, Hawaii is truly the tropical paradise we all dream about.
